Reception and Evaluation of Articles
Comentario Internacional receives articles within the dates established in its calls for submissions. You can check the current call on the journal’s OJS platform or on the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, Ecuador (UASB-E) website: uasb.edu.ec.
Articles must be submitted through the journal’s OJS platform. Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of recent submissions. Manuscripts submitted must not be simultaneously under review in another publication.
Upon receipt of an article, an acknowledgment is immediately sent by email. The Editorial Team then reviews whether the submission meets the required formal aspects and whether it is relevant for inclusion in a scientific publication, ensuring compliance with the author guidelines. Articles that do not meet these standards will be declined at this initial stage without a peer review process.
The submission date of a manuscript will only be considered once it has been received in its correct form. Authors are encouraged to verify compliance with all requirements listed in the pre-submission checklist before submitting.
Manuscripts are evaluated under a double-blind peer review system (anonymous and confidential) by two external experts in the field who provide objective assessments and ensure there are no conflicts of interest. The anonymity of both authors and reviewers is maintained throughout the process.
External reviewers must follow the review rubric guidelines, based on which evaluation reports are prepared. Reviewers will determine whether the manuscript is:
-
Publishable without changes;
-
Publishable with changes; or
-
Not publishable.
In case of discrepancies, the manuscript will be sent to a third reviewer, whose evaluation will determine the final decision regarding publication.
If reviewers decide to accept the article with changes, the manuscript will be returned to the authors to make the suggested modifications regarding length, structure, or style, while respecting the original content. The length of the revised version must not exceed the limits set in this policy.
The review protocol used by the journal is public. The scientific evaluation process, after the preliminary review by the Editorial Team, takes up to 100 days.
Articles positively evaluated that require modifications (minor or major) must be resubmitted within 30 days.
All authors will receive anonymous scientific evaluation reports to make the appropriate improvements or responses. The double-blind peer review process ensures objectivity, transparency, and impartiality.
Authors of accepted articles will receive proofs in PDF format via email for proofreading and typographic corrections within three days. Only minor corrections to the original evaluated manuscript are allowed.
In general, once external scientific reviews are completed, the criteria used by the Editorial Committee to justify acceptance or rejection are:
-
Relevance and timeliness;
-
Scientific significance and contribution to knowledge;
-
Originality;
-
Scientific reliability and methodological quality;
-
Organization and formal presentation;
-
External support and public/private funding;
-
Co-authorship and internationalization of the proposal and team;
-
Quality of writing.
Authors will have access to the online publication. Each author will receive two printed copies for free distribution among colleagues and institutions.
Authors commit to joining the International Council of Scientific Reviewers for three years following the publication of their article.
